Blog #4: Nylon vs Polyester, which should you should you fly?

What is the difference between a Nylon and Polyester flags? Does nylon adsorb water?

-Nylon flags are made from nylon fibers, a non-absorbent, tough, synthetic material best suited to areas with low to medium wind because while it’s not as tough as polyester, it doesn’t absorb rain and rot like polyester would in low wind conditions. Polyester flags are made from polyester, an absorbent, synthetic material which can take much more of a beating than nylon. Polyester is more suited to high wind areas, such as coastal regions, because of it’s strength in the face of constant wind, but less suited to low wind areas where it can become wet from rain and sag on a pole, causing rot.

What is the difference between indoor nylon and outdoor nylon flags?

-Well apart from the fact that indoor flags are not made to fly outdoors, our indoor flags are less expensive because they don’t require the same construction as outdoor flags, also, some of our indoor flags feature gold fringe, not featured on outdoor flags.
